Hello, folks of Magical Tower of Pizza. Might be an odd start, but I’m here to share some of my personal experience.
I live in a relatively secluded, small town, so getting hands on any unique merch is kind of a tall order. I’m a hard fan of the show, probably just like many of you here, and watched Peppina during her TV run, but sadly had no way of recording it back then. Imagine how surprised I was when during my scroll through second-hand shops, I noticed the box art from VHS of first season! The package wasn’t exactly mint, but it seemed as the original package, and inside of it was a cassette, also a bit worn out on a surface, no holo protection and broken re-recording tongue, but overall, just the way it should look like. With shop owner, we checked if contents of a cassette were as described, and lo and behold, I was greeted with an introduction scene from first episode, where Peppina was about to buy her pizza hairclip! With a price of “discount box sale”, getting that tape was basically a bargain, especially since I was really hoping to rewatch it, now that I’ve bought myself VHS player. When I got back home, I wasted no time getting ready for entire evening of nice anime action that I remember so fondly. There were no issues at first, all the scenes were as I remembered it, and there were no apparent issues with the record. However, sometime after Noise-chan was introduced, I noticed a peculiar glitch – just for a second, Peppina’s colors would shift, her costume turning pinkish, and her skin getting lighter. I paid no attention to it at first, but after, like, 4 or 5 times seeing this, it began to bother me, so I decided to check if its something wrong with a recording. Oddly, when I’d watch it backwards, right after colors change, Peppina would look normal like there was nothing. I shrugged it off as a possible issue with my TV – it was a pretty old CTR model that I got from my parents as a “hands down gift”, but when I continued watching, that recolor continued popping up few more times. It happened once even on Fakepina episode, but for some reason Fakepina colors remained the same! Hell if I know what is going on there, I thought there that the glitch should’ve affected the entire screen. Either way, I finished my marathon, and while this mystery still bothers me, I’m not willing to rewatch the entire cassette one more time right now just to try and catch that weird visual glitch. So, you can crack your head on it instead. Here, I tried to draw how she looked from top of my memory, so maybe someone else also saw that glitch, or maybe something that resembles it? I’ll check your thoughts on that stuff tomorrow, it’s lights out for me for today. |

This ain't Peppina Ramen anymore lmao.
This is now Peddita Udon
P.s: She be wildin’ against pizza lovers with that palette. Have you tried to photo snap her? Also are there any digitizing services in your area? Maybe turn that tape digital so we can take a look as well. |

Peddita sounds like a fancy name! Guess I’ll adopt it for convenience. And sure, I’ll try to make some shots with my camera. It’s not top shelf, but if it fails, I still have an old film camera that can make instant shots, so I’ll try that as well.
Update: Alright, so I got some time today, and I’ve tried your suggestions. The hunt for Peddita officially started… …to not much success, as I should report. Don’t get me wrong, I like a good mystery, as well as trying to figure out things that I don’t understand. But this one is just mind-bending so far. About the suggestion to digitize the cassette and share it here – while a lovely idea, it is not possible. I ran across my entire hometown, asked about neighboring cities, but it seems like no one around has the tech to digitize VHS recording. Not really to a much surprise, I guess – again, as I mentioned before, I live in a rather secluded area. Camera shots also mostly failed – trying to snap Peddita while episode kept playing would either lead to a delay being long enough that I’d have a shot without her, or that even the well-timed photo would keep me with a completely smeared, messed-up looking frame where Peddita is just unrecognizable! I guess my digital camera wasn’t quite up to the task. I think I’ve managed to get a few shots on a film camera though, but getting the photos will have to wait until next update, after I bring it to the photo shop. But that’s not even the worst part. Just to be clear – I did also try to pause the tape whenever she would appear. It would hold for a second or two, but before I’d make a good shot, the VHS player would start buzzing, playing the recording just a bit forward, letting Peddita to disappear from the screen. All while there would still be a clear indicator both on a player itself and on a screen that the tape was paused. Honestly, I wanted to smash that damned thing the first time it happened. Another annoying thing about this whole ordeal is that there are no fixed moments in the entire recording when Peddita would appear? I went through entire recording on fast play several times just to confirm this. She never appears in the same frame twice, popping up randomly in different places, always taking the spot of exclusively Peppina. Never Fakepina, even when Fakepina’s the only one in the frame and indiscernible from the real Peppina. I tried to look for a pattern of sorts, like periods between appearances, or maybe there was a certain length in the episode itself. But no, there is absolutely nothing. It’s like she appears just when she wills it. Or there is really something with my TV or a player. I called for maintenance guy to visit my home and check it out just in case. Well, guess I’ll report on that in a few days as well. |

Not sure if this whole story is true or not. I have my doubts that topic starter just wrote this whole thing for attention. «AvalonMaster (Posted: Jan 4, 2005, 03:51 PM):

I don't really lean to believing in a story like this TBAH. I mean, come on. Paranormal acticity? Ghosts? Really? Ghost stories are just that - stories. I have yet to really see any scientific evidence that this is all true. So if unless OP posts something really proving this all not just a fiction, I'm not convinced!
P.s Look, I'm not trying to offend anyone's beliefs here, I just simply don't believe in this stuff. Untill we meet again... |

Hey folks. So, bad news. The entire camera tape apparently ended up trashed. I went to the shop and gave the tapes, everything seemed fine at first, but when I came to take the photos, I was told that there will be none, I won’t be charged, but I also can’t have the tape back. Like, wtf? The reason was apparently that all photos had something like a burned mark on them, despite the negatives being originally fine, and the mark would eat out about a half of a space on the photo. And they wouldn’t give negatives to me either because they were also, apparently, somehow “damaged”? I have no freaking clue what is going on here, but I guess I should thank them for not charging for all the supplies they wasted on photos they can’t deliver.
It's been a rather disappointing development, really. And I feel like this whole ordeal is also starting to make me feel unwell. It’s been harder to sleep the last few days, and the food also has that weird, burnt aftertaste, often making it hard to swallow. And I’m the only one feeling it? Just as I had a dinner with bunch of my pals, I complained about that burnt taste and they just looked at me weirdly, saying that the food was fine. And it visually was, but I still can taste the burn, even after cleaning my mouth over and over! There were no issues in the family with anything tastebud-related as far as I know, I have no idea where that problem comes from but this bs just makes me eat less, and living just on drinks is no fun, trust me. Though I am guessing that it might be because of Peddita. Perhaps my brain is taking it too seriously with the hunt deal? Speaking of which, maintenance guy checked on my TV and VHS player. He found no issues with it, and just for the sake of it, we even went through an episode of Peppina together. Peddita didn’t show up even once, but the guy was curious about the series and asked if he can borrow the cassette at some other date, since he decided to check the whole series. So, I guess gloom and dark – we have another Peppina enjoyer now. But after he left! After that I decided to watch another movie just to take a break from all this. I saw her! Peddita just randomly scrolled through the screen in the background of a movie, like she’s some sort of secondary character! And it was a scene that took several seconds, much unlike before! I tried to playback, but just as usual, she was gone. And then she appeared twice more before the movie ended! I feel like all this is starting to drive me crazy… honestly, at this point I don’t even care about why, I just want to get rid of that cassette and never see it again. Perhaps I’ll dunk it on that repair guy later, so it’d be his problem and not mine. |

Yeah, you should probably take a break and forget about this thing. This is not going well for your mental health... Also it's nice to know that there is another person who is now interested in Peppina! 美しい月明かり
